Armidale Regional Council Incentivises Sustainable Building Design

Our architecture firm was recently featured in an announcement by Armidale Regional Council for our commitment to sustainable building practices. The council has unveiled a new Draft Ecological Sustainable Development (ESD) Policy that provides financial incentives for the construction of energy-efficient and sustainable buildings. As part of its Zero30 initiative to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030, the council aims to increase the uptake of sustainable development across the region. The ESD Policy encourages building designs that prioritize climate orientation, compact living, low embodied energy materials, energy efficiency, water conservation, and ecological preservation.

Mayor Sam Coupland highlighted the policy's role in promoting affordable green housing while reducing long-term cost-of-living pressures. By incentivizing sustainable building practices, the council hopes to normalize such designs and contribute to a more sustainable future for the community.
